Lifting up ordinary objects out of everyday life and recreating the expectation and function of that object is the root of how I begin to create my work. If craft is an art that enables humans to surround themselves in an environment of beauty, to enhance, interact with and inspire the mundane, then this is what I seek to accomplish.

When a simple object becomes other than ordinary, when its original intention becomes unfamiliar and invites closer examination, it is then that craft elevates the simple, familiar life experiences and adds wonder and a longing to connect and touch, to know something more than only surface offers.

The elements of fiber and glass, wool and hook, needle and thread, has fed me, in quiet hours, stitching, sewing and expressing what I am unable to say with words. Within the cotton and wool, I leave a trail, a personal creative continuum.

The Archeology of an Idea: Mixed Media/Fiber arts Roundtable Clinic

This is a non-judgmental discussion group regarding relational aspects to personal art making and how to uncover the gold. (All artists are welcome who are wanting to look at their creative process in a small group setting)

Participants are invited to join Bonnie in a discussion about art making as it relates to personal relationship, and the early stages of an idea. All are asked to bring a piece of personal art, whether fragmented, or a sampling, stalled or completed, along with a small bag of favorite materials to introduce to the group. Bring an old or new sketchbook to share your process, and a notebook for journal writing. A writing prompt will be offered to highlight how we see, think and feel about our “art” relationship, the work we create and how problem-solving leads us to illumination.
